Reveal

About Rob Higley

Twenty years of B2B marketing, from every seat at the table.

I'm Rob Higley, founder of Reveal, a fractional CMO practice for B2B companies with $10M to $50M in revenue. I'm based in Indianapolis and spend time in person in Tampa Bay each month.

I've worked in radio, at a top Indiana PR agency, as owner of my own nine-person agency, and inside companies as a marketing director and VP. Reveal is where those four views come together.

How did I get here?

Rob Higley, founder of Reveal and fractional CMO

I started in radio, where nobody owes you their attention.

You earn it in the first sentence or you lose the listener. That discipline, lead with what matters and cut everything that doesn't, is the one I still bring to every engagement.

My PR career began at a top Indiana agency, where I learned that PR and marketing can shape what a buyer thinks of a firm long before a salesperson ever calls. Shaping that view on purpose is still a core part of how I think about marketing. From there I built and ran a nine-person marketing agency for a decade. That means I've sat on the other side of the table from the CEOs I work with now, and I know what an agency is optimizing for.

Then I went inside companies as a marketing director and VP, owning budgets and being accountable for pipeline. Today I work as a fractional CMO, with CEOs of B2B companies who want senior marketing leadership without a full-time executive hire.

Why do the different seats matter?

Most marketing advisors have held one of these roles. The combination is what makes the diagnostic work.

From the agency seat I know how work gets scoped, billed and reported, and where the gaps between a report and a result hide. From the in-house seat I know what it feels like to be accountable to a CEO and a sales team for numbers. From the fractional seat I can put both views to work at once, without the agency's incentive to sell more activity or the employee's incentive to protect a department.

The fractional role is the one place where all three perspectives are useful at the same time.

What is Reveal, and what isn't it?

Reveal is not an agency.

I don't produce content at scale or manage your ad spend. I sit at the senior leadership level, give you an honest read on your marketing, and build an operating system your team can run, with defined deliverables and measurable outcomes at every stage.

The work comes in three phases, and each stands alone. The Keystone Diagnostic names the real problem in priority order. The Keystone Blueprint turns the answer into positioning, channel strategy and a campaign calendar. The fractional CMO engagement provides ongoing senior leadership, and it ends when your team can run the system without me.

Where do I work?

Reveal is based in Indianapolis, and I'm in Tampa Bay in person each month. Most weekly work happens by video or phone, and in-person time is scheduled around what the engagement needs.
